CLINICIAN > SCIENTIFIC AND CLINICAL BACKGROUND

7 YEARS OF CLINICAL USE AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE

The concept of intramucosal implants is the greatest revolution in prosthetic implants of the last 20 years.

This idea has changed core principles by shifting focus to the soft tissues not only for their aesthetic value, but also for their biological role and by demonstrating that a gum that is thick, healthy and stable over time will protect even the underlying hard tissues. On the one hand it has awakened enthusiasm among researchers, whilst on the other, the concept has fuelled the satisfaction of clinicians who immediately appreciated its application in many different situations.

The two fundamental characteristics of an intramucosal neck are its convergent morphology and its micro-threaded, anodized surface, designed to convey its benefits to the realm of the soft tissues.

This way the intramucosal segment provides both mechanical and biological support.

Targeted experimental research completed at several university centres, some of which are still in press, shows that the fibroblasts nesting in the specially sized spaces of the UTM micro-threads, duplicate very quickly, which explains the exceptionally rapid healing times around the Prama neck.

Histological analysis has played a fundamental role in proving that the UTM surface can be submerged in bone and achieve full osteointegration. This scientific certainty has reassured clinicians who had already begun to partially submerge the implant neck in the bone, obtaining excellent mineralization.

For this reason, Prama has been defined as the first and only intramucosal implant. The synergy between the UTM surface and the convergent morphology allows the Prama neck to be positioned inside the soft tissue, facilitating the prosthetic approach whilst maximizing the aesthetic result.

On the basis of these results, the new 3.80 mm high Long Neck and the 1.80 mm high Short Neck have been developed, which allow any anatomical condition to be managed with simple efficiency.

Some of the most interesting cases have been collected in the complimentary book entitled PRAGMATICO.

The clinical experience continues every day: see the cases featured on the Prama Clinicians Instagram page.
